Woman Killed in New York Truck Accident

A Holbrook truck accident resulted in the death of a 21-year-old woman from Nesconset.  The fatal crash occurred on the evening of Tuesday, August 25, 2009 when a vehicle collided with a tractor trailer.

According to Suffolk police, Leann Mazzeo was driving a 1998 Ford on Veterans Memorial Highway, traveling southeast near Broadway.  Bruce Shively, a 44-year-old East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania resident, turned his tractor trailer left in front of Mazzeo’s vehicle, hit her vehicle and caused it to go off the road, said police.

Mazzeo was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and Shively was not injured.

The Motor Carrier Safety Team inspected the tractor trailer at the accident scene.  Mazzeo’s car was impounded for a safety check.

It has been requested that any witnesses to the fatal New York truck accident who have not been interviewed, contact the 5th Squad at 631-854-8552.  The telephone call will be kept confidential.
