The 2 Things that Add to Cognitive Decline in New York

Posted on Sep 13, 2011

According to a report from Health News, cognitive decline is associated with low physical activity and high salt intake. If you suffer from a condition that limits how you function on a daily basis, then you could receive Social Security disability benefits. If you aren't already receiving Social Security benefits, contact a New York Social Security disability attorney to file a claim for you.

While low physical activity and high salt intake have been found to increase the risk of:

  • heart disease;
  • stroke;
  • high blood pressure; and
  • a new study finds that it can also contribute to a decline in cognitive functions.

One of the specific groups targeted in an attempt to raise awareness of this malady are baby boomers.

It is not uncommon for adults to spend hours of enjoyment in front of the television munching on their favorite salty snacks but they really shouldn't, as this could significantly affect brain health. Less salt in and more salt out - less salty snacks in the body and more sweat from physical exertion out!

However, if you literally cannot get up from the couch to exercise, when you have been diagnosed with a severe mental or physical medical condition that prevents you from working, then you could qualify to receive Social Security disability benefits.

To learn what your rights have, you should speak immediately with a New York Social Security Disability Attorney.
