
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced a new strategic plan to fight diabetes. This plan is being developed by a federal work group by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).
This strategic plan will work to prevent, treat and cure diabetes. Diabetes can become a debilitating disease often resulting in additional medical complications.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), indicates that in the United States 1 in every 10 adults has diabetes. Many individuals aren't even aware they have the condition. It is estimated by the year 2050, as many as 1 in 3 adults could develop diabetes.
