
A man was seriously injured in a Staten Island motorcycle accident when his Yamaha motorcycle collided with a livery car in Stapleton. He was ejected from his motorcycle, which had burst into flames and the car was forced into a neighborhood lawn.
The motorcyclist was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton. According to police, his injuries were life threatening.
The New York motorcycle accident occurred not long after 12:30 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the intersection of Targee Street and Laurel Avenue. The motorcycle had been heading north on Targee Street when it hit the driver’s side of a Lincoln Towncar that was traveling west on Laurel Avenue. The impact of the motorcycle collision caused the motorcycle to be totaled. The asphalt was even burned when the motorcycle caught fire.
It was unknown whether the occupants of the Lincoln Towncar were injured in the crash. The car was forced onto the side lawn of 284 Targee Street. A large dent could be seen on the driver’s side door and the windshield was smashed.
Since June, three men have died in separate motorcycle accidents on Staten Island.
