Great Kills Car Accident Results in One Death

A 43-year-old man from Eltingville was killed when the vehicle he was driving collided with another car. The Great Kills car accident occurred at an intersection that is known to be dangerous.

The crash took place at the intersection of Hylan Boulevard and Armstrong Avenue at approximately 5:23 AM on Friday morning, September 4, 2009. The victim, Neal Myron, 43, of Augusta Avenue, was rushed to the hospital immediately following the accident. According to police, Myron was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital.

Lucia Falcon, 19, of Willowbrook, was reported as the driver of the other car involved in the two-vehicle accident. She was also taken to the same hospital where she was treated for injuries and then released.

“She’s fine,” a police spokesman commented.

The accident was captured by a surveillance camera located at a nearby grocery store. The merchant has been in contact with police and the accident is currently under investigation.

According to police sources, a witness reported that Myron, who was driving a Toyota Yarris, “may have gone through the red light.”

The merchant has indicated that there has been a minimum of five accidents at the same Great Kills intersection within the last few months. He said that part of the problem is that there are large trees that obscure traffic signals and signs.
