Clifton Auto Accident Sends Five Children to the Hospital

A Clifton car accident sends five children to a local hospital after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) slams into a school bus. The incident took place at approximately 8:00 AM on Wednesday morning, March 17, 2010, on Vanderbilt Avenue near Prince Street.

According to the New York City Police Department, witnesses report that a red SUV slammed into a school bus. Apparently, the SUV was driving down the wrong side of the street when it collided with the bus.

Rescue crews transported five children to Staten Island University Hospital where they were treated for back and neck injuries sustained in the wreck. Fortunately, their injuries have been described as minor.

Police have reported that the driver of the SUV then fled the accident scene on foot. She has been reported as being a female driver. The New York City Police Department is still trying to locate the hit-and-run driver.

The Clifton auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It is unclear as to why the female hit-and-run driver was driving on the wrong side of the street and hit the school bus.

Auto accidents involving school buses can be serious. We wish all of the victims a speedy recovery during this difficult time.
