What is a Contingency Fee?

A: When you hire a lawyer the legal fee that you are charged will either be based on an (a) hourly fee or (b) a contingent fee. Contingency fees are most common in personal injury and accident cases where the fee paid to the attorney is "contingent" upon you obtaining a monetary recovery.  Typically the contingency fee will be a percentage of the judgment or monetary settlement obtained on your behalf.
