A: Your average weekly wages is used to calculate your total disability benefit rates. Defined at 1/52nd of the injured worker's average annual earnings (200-300 times average daily wage, depending on work schedule), based on the prior year's payroll data. If you were a new worker when you were injured, the workers’ compensation board will use the average wage of a comparably employed worker to determine your disability benefit rates.
