Q: I am purchasing a house in Staten Island, who prepares the contract?
A: In New York it is normally the seller’s attorney who prepares the initial contract which is sent to the buyer’s attorney for comments and changes. Once the attorneys agree the buyer would sign and give the contract deposit and then the seller signs. Only after the seller signs is the contract binding.
