Young Women Drunk Drivers On the Rise According to Recent Study

According to a recent study young female drivers who are driving drunk are on the rise.  While the vast majority of drunk drivers are men there are more female drunk drivers than ever before according to the study.

Laura Dean-Mooney the national president of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) when informed about the recent study said she is "not suprised" about what the study has revealed because of the recent increase of social pressures on woman so more women have picked up the bad habits of men.

The study was done by the Yale University School of Medicine and was based on data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  The data used for the study was from 1995 to 2007 and showed that female drivers were involved in fatal car crashes as a result of drunk drivinghas been on the rise consistantly since the 1990's and continues to rise.

Comments by Dr. Federico Vaca, the professor of emergency medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine, mentions that he too believes that the rise in young women driving drunk has a lot to do with the social pressure that young woman go through in the past years compared with 20 or 30 years ago.  He believes that women are trying to drive drunk or under the influence of illegal substances because of the pressure of wanting to fit in. 

All of the signs in the study point to an increase in accidents amont woman driving drunk especially those who are between the ages of 16 - 24.  No matter what age, sex or race you are it is unacceptable to drive drunk.  Drunk driving not only puts your life at risk but it also puts others lives at risk - whether it is someones daughter, son, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, other family member or friend that life is valuable to other people.  Please keep this in mind before you attempt to drive after drinking.  Social acceptance mean nothing when compared with your life or anothers life and is not worth the price of death.
