An update on the New York law for removing snow and ice from cars. If put into place this could fine regular size vehicles (most cars, trucks and SUVs) $75 per occurrence. This bill is currently still pending but hopefully will become law soon. The amendment to the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law would reduce the number of people driving with snow and ice build up on their cars and would avoid large chunks of snow and ice from becoming a potential hazard to people driving behind them. This can help reduce the overall amount of injuries caused by this type of problem. For additional information about liability for injuries call Frank J. Update on New York Law for Removing Snow and Ice from Cars and Other Vehicles

Last year I posted information about a new bill that was being proposed to amend the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law. The bill proposed that a vehilce snow removal law be put into place in New York. If passed as a law it would prohibit people from driving with snow or ice on their vehicles and would fine them accordingly if they broke they didn't clear their vehicle of all snow and ice prior to driving after snowfall. This bill is still pending and while it has being moving along throughout different areas to make it a law it is not quite there yet. Hopefully this snow removal law will be put into affect by next winter.

Remember to keep your car, truck, SUV or other vehicle clear of snow and ice when driving. This can not only keep you saf but will also help people driving behind you to stay safe from chunks of snow and ice from your car hitting their windshield. When this occurs it can either cause a whiteout effect and the person behind you may not be able to see where they are going or it could crack or shatter their windshield and cause them serious injuries.
