Toys R Us has joined with 16 infant and children's product manufacturers to create something similar to the "Cash for Clunkers" program except this program is geared toward turning in certain used baby furniture and children's products and is being called by some the "Cash for Cribs" program.
Starting Friday the Toys R Us in Wayne, New Jersey, among other locations, will start the program which is projected to last until September 20, 2009, but the CEO of Toys R Us says that the program could possibly go beyond the projected end date if the program works out well.
Toys R Us will be excepting used cribs, car seats, high chairs, play yards, bassinets, strollers and many other children's products in exchange for 20% off of a wide range of new products (there is no limit on how many used products you can bring in). The products will include infant and children's items made by Baby Cache, Eddie Bauer, Graco and quite a few others.
The idea of the program was sparked due to the lack of response by parents the past few months since the recall of many infant and children's products. Some of the recently recalled items that should have generated a lot of returns and questions being asked are the Simplicity Drop Side cribs, Simplicity and Graco 4-in-1 and 3-in-1 bassinets and Maxi-Cosi Mico car seats. All of these dangerous infant products that have been recalled should have generated a large response of parents due to the size of the recalls but it has not. Toy R Us and the participating manufacturers are hoping that parent will use this opportunity to turn in some of their used, and possibly faulty, equipment and will rid parents of the unknown risk of injury to their child.
If you have children's equipment that you would like to trade in you can find a list stores participating in the "Great Trade-In" event call your local Toys R Us or Babies R Us.
If your child has been injured by faulty equipment or if your child was hurt by a recently recalled product you need an experienced attorney to handle your child's injury case.
