After hearing a loud thud, residents ran into the street to find the boy, who they said was 13 years old, lying on the ground in front of 160 Crowell Ave., near Jewett Avenue.
The teen was bleeding from his head, witnesses said. He was taken to Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton.
"He was conscious, crying and in a lot of pain," said Mike Morrell, 64, who lives near the accident. "It's a shame."
The driver remained at the scene.
