The National Traffic Highway Safety Administration announced that Subaru has issued a
recall for the Impreza WRX. The recall consists of 5,724 2002 -2003 Subaru Impreza WRX vehicles which were sold or currently are registered in the following states: South Dakota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Colorado, Wisconsin, New York, Wyoming, Michigan, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
The Impreza recall was issued because of a potential fuel leak in the fuel delivery line where the line connects with the rubber hose. Subaru announced that the likelihood of this problem occuring worstens in the winter months due to starting the car in extremely cold tempuratures.
If you own a 2002 - 2003 Subaru Impreza WRX and live in any of the above states you can contact your local
Subaru dealership to get the fuel line replaced free of charge. It is very important that if you own this vehicle you contact the Subaru dealership to schedule an appointment immediately because if an ignition source is present the fuel leak can cause a fire which could lead to burn injuries, other severe injuries and vehicle damages.
If you would like to inform the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) of your car's specific problems due to this recall or if you sustained an injury due to the car's defect you can contact the NTHSA at 888.327.4236.
