According to a
recent study that was released last week by the
Centers for Disease Control and Preventions Morbitity and Mortality Weekly Report that released information from a study that shows that from 1998 to 2007 800,000 teens and young adults between the ages of 15 and 24 were injured at work and 500 young workers were killed in work related accidents.
Some steps that employers can take to ensure the safety of young workers are:
- Identify and prevent possible hazards in and around the work place
- Ensure that workers have the proper training
- Make sure workers receive the proper equipment and are aware of how to use it properly
Taking these steps are crutial in helping young workers stay healthy and avoid work related injuries and work related deaths. The study does not show exactly why the number of young injured workers is so high but it may have to do with being inexperienced in the field they are working in and without proper training it can leave room for work injuries.
