Staten Island NY Infant and Child Injury Alert: Children's Tylenol, Benadryl, Motrin, Zyrtec and More Recalled Because of Contamination and Safety Issues

The U.S. Food Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced that due to the recent children's medicine recall, the recent recall involving Infant and Children's Tylenol, Infant and Children's Liquid Motrin, Children's Benedryl, Childrens Zyrtec and many other liquid medicines for children manufactured by Johnson & Johnson McNeil, parents, caregivers and anyone who possesses any of these infant and/or children pain relievers, cold medicines or allergy medicines that are in liquid or drop form made by Johnson & Johnson McNeil should discontinue use of the product immediately.  The FDA at this point is confident that chewable and pill forms of Johnson & Johnson McNeil products are safe to use still.

The reason for the recall was because of very poor conditions that the FDA found at the manufacturer's production area in Texas.  These poor conditions involved the findings of contaminations and contaminates (some which where found in the raw materials used to make the infant and child medicine at the plant in Dallas, TX), thick layers of dust, grime, and other unsanitary conditions.

The FDA is advising parents and anyone who owns a liquid medicine of any kind that is for infants or children and manufactured by Johnson & Johnson McNeil to discontinue use immediately and instead buy generic versions of the products or buy another name brand of the medicine.

These liquid infant and children's medications may contain bacteria or other contaminants, foreign particles and the inactive ingredients may not meet requirements.  It is unknown exactly how much or what contaminants are being found in the medicines but it can possibly be dangerous and harmful for an infant or child to consume such products with contaminants and high levels of bacteria.  This could make an infant or child sick, cause health issues or depending on what it is that is found in a particular bottle it could cause severe sickness or death.

Check your medicine cabinets and the rest of your house for the items below and follow the FDA's instruction and replace the products with a different name brand or the generic version of the drug:
