Police are reporting that a Staten Island driver was involved in a car accident earlier this morning around 12:00 a.m.
The driver, whose name has not been disclosed at this time, was driving down the Martin Luther King Expressway when he decided to attempt making a sharp turn near the Richmond Terrace exit and his car flipped over.
Police responded shortly thereafter to the report of the overturned vehicle and the injured driver was taken to a nearby hospital, which also has not been disclosed at this time.
As a result of this accident the highway was closed between the Forest Avenue exit and the Bayonne Bridge for approximately 30 minutes while the authorities cleaned up the debris from the overturned vehicle.
The condition of the driver is unknown at this time.
