Staten Island Child Product Recall Alert: McDonalds Recalls Shrek Drinking Glasses for Cadmium

The Shrek glasses sold at McDonalds are being recalled because of recent findings of cadmium in the limited time product being sold by McDonalds.

Cadmium is a toxic chemical element which is extremely toxic even at low concentrations.  Acute exposure to cadmium usually results in flu like symptoms which include chills, fever and muscle aches.  While acute exposure symptoms usually disappear within a week or so more severe exposure can result in tracheo-bronchitis, pneumonitis and pulmonary edema and can also times lead to respiratory tract, liver problems, kidney problems, cancer and bone problems. Some early symptoms of severe exposure to cadmium include cough, dryness and irritation to the throat and nose, headache, dizziness, weakness, fever, chills and chest pain. 

It is important to understand that even the smallest amount of exposure to cadmium can be dangerous, poisonous and life threatening. Be sure to check to see if your child has one of these collectable Shrek cups from McDonalds.  If your child has this product stop use immediately because it can be dangerous and cause life threatening problems.
