Staten Island & Brooklyn New York Disability Lawyer | Social Security Administration to Use Electronic Medical Records to Cut Down Disability Claim Processing Time

The Social Security Administration is planning to use electronic medical records to try to cut down on the disability claim backlog.

The Social Security Administration will receive medical records and clinical information from hospitals and other healthcare providers electronically in order to review each Social Security Disability case more quickly and efficiently.

Until now the Social Security Administration has been processsing disability applications by using a paper based system.  They are looking to start implimenting this process soon along with a seperate process for collecting disability claim applications online.  They hope that the combination of these two new processes will speed up the time it currently takes to process the disability applications (which can currently take anywhere from a few months to a few years).
