A
recent study conducted by the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that drugs being present in fatal car crashes is not uncommon.
The study was done on one-third of fatally injured drivers whose blood was made available to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration were shown to have drugs in their system. The drugs found in the systems of those who died in the car crashes ranged from steroids to marijuana to pain killers and other drugs (both prescription and illegal drugs). The study also noted that the test did not include whether or not the affects of the drugs caused the car accidents or not it merely showed that drugs were present in their blood at the time of the fatal accident.
When comparing the recent study to past studies the percentage of drivers under the influence of drugs has rose from 3% to 5%.
