Police say that a
man blew off his arm last night while lighting a firework at a party in Long Island, New York.
The 36 year-old man was lighting the firework in a 3-foot long tube and authorities believe he was unable to move his arm out of the way in time after lighting the firework.

Fireworks in New York
It is illegal to posses and/or light off fireworks in the state of New York unless you are a professional who is lighting them off for an event.
New York made purchasing and using fireworks illegal because they can be very dangerous if they get into the wrong hands or in the hands of someone who is not familiar with setting off fireworks. Firework injuries and deaths can be avoided by not setting off fireworks and staying away from others who do.
