New York City Trying to Cap Liability for Ferry Crash in May

As recently announced in the Staten Island Advance the City of New York is requesting to have a liability cap applied to the Staten Island ferry crash that occurred in May.

The City of New York requested that the same be done a few years ago concerning the Staten Island ferry crash of the Andrew J. Barberi in 2003 but the courts denied the request. So far the New York City has paid over $88 million for 169 people injured on the Staten Island ferry in 2003 and will continue to do so until all valid lawsuits have been paid out.

The City of New York is also arguing they should not be held for negligence in the crash because they did not do anything, in their opinion, that was negligent.
