A
recent recall issued by Step2 Co. consisted of over 2.5 million push buggy ride-on toys that were manufactured from August 1999 until March 2010.
The two Step2 push buggy toys being recalled are the Push Around and Whisper Ride models of the toy.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging parents and caretakers to stop use of this toy immediately and to check to see if the push buggy ride-on toy has a pin attached to the handle with a yellow tip. If you own one of these models and the pin attached to the handle has a yellow tip Step2 is asking that you contact them so that you can receive a free repair kit. Once the free repair kit is received you will need to follow the necessary instructions and then use of the product may resume.
To date Step2 has received 26 reports of child injuries from the Step2 Push Around and Whisper Ride buggy ride-on toys. The 26 reported some children with scrapes and bruises while a few consisted of children needing to go to the hospital due to the injuries they sustained from the toy.
If you own a recalled Push Around Buggy by Step2 you can fill out a
form to receive a free repair kit from Step2 or you can call 866.860.1887. If you own a recalled Whisper Ride Buggy you can fill out a
form to receive a free repair kit from Step 2 or you can call the same number listed above.
