Is There a Need for More Bike Lanes in New York City to Avoid Bicycle Accidents?

Recently a tragic situation took place in Brooklyn, NY which resulted in a bicyclist 23 years of age loosing her life. The tragic accident took place this month when a person in a parked car opened her car door when the bicyclist was passing by the car. The girl riding the bike was pushed into traffic because of the opened car door and was hit by an MTA bus. 

According to many bicyclists in New York City they believe that although there are many bicycle lanes throughout New York City they believe that many more lanes throughout are needed to keep bicyclists safe.
