Injury Risk and Fire Hazard Cause Walmart to Recall Over 4.2 Million Durabrand DVD Players

In August Walmart recalled 1.5 million Durabrand DVD players due to fire hazard and risk of burn injuries.

Walmart along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced an expansion of the original recall which now bring the number of Durabrand DVD player being recalled to over 4.2 million. 

So far Walmart has received 14 reports of the product overheating, seven of which resulted in fires that caused property damage.  According to the reports there have been no reports of injuries due to the malfunctioning product yet.

The Durabrand DVD players were sold at Walmart January 2006 and July 2009 for $29.

The product is a single DVD player with a U-shaped area where you insert the dvd at.  The dvd player comes in silver, purple and pink - all colors are being recalled.
