
Some veterans who return from the service go back to their home community and return to their former employers but there is an increasing number of veterans who are interested in purchasing a franchised business.
Veterans interested in becoming part of a franchise are eligible for assistance from an International Franchise Association IFA) program known as Veterans Transition Franchise Initiative (more commonly known as VetFran). VetFran offers discounted franchise fees to veterans who are interested in purchasing a franchise. The IFA says that this program is simply a way of saying thank you to veterans who have a dream of becoming a franchisee.
Another helpful service offered by the IFA to veterans is the Educational Foundation's Veterans Scholarship Program (click here or a printable application) which offers tuition assistance for veterans enrolled in business or management courses at a college or university.
There are more than 400 member companies to the IFA that participate in the VetFran program by offering discounted franchise fees to veterans. Among the member companies are many popular franchises such as:
