Finger Amputation and Laceration Sparks Recall for Graco Strollers

Graco announced last week that due to the risk of finger amputations and lacerations they are recalling some of their most popular strollers that were sold between October 2004 and February 2008. Graco's stroller recall is estimated to include 1.5 Million Graco strollers that were sold at stores for the past few years such as Babies r us, Kmart, Burlington Coat Factory, Toys r us and many other similar stores. The Graco models that are being recalled are the Graco Passage, Graco Alano, and Graco Spree Travel Systems (see images at the bottom of this article).

An infant or child is at risk of finger amputation or laceration when the stroller's canopy opens or closes.  The child's finger can get sliced if they place their finger near this area when you are opening and/or closing the canopy.  If you currently own one of these recalled Graco strollers Graco is advising that you stop use of the product immediately and contact Graco at 1.800.345.4109 to receive a free stroller repair kit.

This stroller recall is similar to the recall issued for Maclaren strollers a few months ago. Maclaren strollers also have a risk of causing finger amputations and lacerations. If your child has been injured by any brand of stroller due to a manufacturer defect, including a Maclaren or Graco stroller, you may want to speak with an Stroller injury attorney to discuss how your child can be compensated for the injuries he/she has sustained.

Below are images of the strollers being recalled (please note that the colors/designs may vary)
