EPA Rejects Timeline for PCB Cleanup in NYC Schools

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been investigating New York City public schools recently and has found high amounts of PCB's in the majority of the schools.

Recently the City of New York came up with a 10 year plan on how to remove PCB's from New York City public schools and was initially praised by some for their plan on the PCB removal. The EPA however does not think the plan is sufficient enough for the serious situation that has recently come to light. The EPA believes that 10 years is too long for the cleanup of the toxic PCBs that have recently been discovered.

The EPA would like the city to come up with a quicker and more efficient way to remove PCB's from New York City schools especially considering children and teachers are exposed to the toxic substance every day. The city however is sticking to their plan for now and does not seem to have plans on cleaning up the schools quicker than 10 years.
