Newsday.com is reporting a fatal car accident in New York City that occured early Saturday morning on the FDR Drive in Manhattan.
A man by the name of Brandon Connelly from Arkansas was driving a 2005 Audi Sedan going southbound Saturday morning when he crashed into the rear end of a 2001 Chevy Tahoe causing the vehicle to crash into a concrete median. The Tahoe was being driven by a North Carolina man by the name of Jamil Aljabal according to a police report. The impact also sent the Tahoe crashing into a Dodge Caravan.
The driver of the Tahoe, Jamil Aljabal, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The four passengers of the Tahoe, the driver of the Dodge Caravan and Connelly were taken to Bellevue Hospital in New York City and are currently listed as being in stable condition.
A breathalyzer test was taken by Connelly at the scene of the accident which showed a blood alcohol level of 0.114, which is above the legal limit of 0.08.
Connely was arrested for causing a multi-vehicle accident while driving under the influence of alcohol. He faces charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and driving while intoxicated.
