Disability Insurance Companies Who Deny the Disabled Benefits

If you become disabled and you have invested money from your paycheck into a disability insurance benefit you would probably be counting on your disability insurance money to help you get through the rough time in your life.

Unfortunately there are far too many people who submit a claim to receive disability insurance payments to their disability insurance company and are denied.  In other circumstances a person may be disabled and be approved for disability insurance payments to be issued to them and may even receive the payments for years and then the insurance company decides to investigate the disabled person.  This is good in circumstances where the person is not truly disabled and is faking their injuries just to receive disability benefits but sometimes this happens to people who are severely disabled and are unable to work leaving the disabled person out of money to survive and unable to find a job because of their disability.

Recently on ABC's Good Morning America they featured a man who was disabled for years because of a neck injury that submitted a claim to his disability insurance company and was approved by them for disability insurance.  The man had been receiving benefits for years and then was investigated by his insurance company using a private investigator or a PI.  The private investigator found no substantial evidence that would cause you or I to believe that he was not disabled.  Instead he videotaped the man reading a magazine, getting in and out of his car and eating chips and dip at a restaurant.  Based on this information the insurance company decided that if he was able to perform these "tasks" that he was in well enough shape to have a full-time job.  Three doctors and one Social Security agent have concluded that the disabled man will be disabled for the rest of his life and will never be able to work again because of memory loss issues, severe headaches and other issues which stem from his neck injury.  This situation has left a disabled man struggling to get by because his disability insurance company acted unreasonably.  The disabled man is currently in a lawsuit against the disability insurance company for money lost due to his benefits being taken away from him despite medical professional's opinions.

If you are disabled and have either been denied disability benefits by your insurance company or if you were receiving disability benefits but are being told that you are no longer eligible for disability benefits but are still disabled and want to know what your legal rights are concerning disability insurance benefits contact an experienced Staten Island disability lawyer at718.979.4300 or toll free at 800.976.4904.  If you do not wish to call but would like someone to reply to you by email instead you can fill out our web form.
