Dangerous levels of PCBs were found by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in three more New York City schools recently. East Harlem public schools reported in the investigation are PS 37, PS 112, and PS 206. Each of these schools was found to have more than 50 parts per million of PCBs present at the time of inspection. Anything over 50 parts per million according to the EPA is considered a possible health risk if exposed to the high amounts of PCBs over a prolonged period of time. The PCBs have primarily been found around the light fixtures and it is becoming more and more apparent by the week that the examination of PCB levels in New York schools is much needed.
