Yesterday the
US Consumer Product and Safety Commission announced a massive bicycle recall which consisted of three popular bicycle companies.
Cannondale, Norco and Trek announced yesterday a recall bikes due to problems with the suspension forks and frames.
Trek Bicycle Corp. has recalled approximately 16,000 bicycles which were manufactured in Taiwan by JD Components. The bikes are being recalled because the suspension forks can lose alignment. Cannondale Bicycle Corp. recalled approximately 1,500 of their bicycles which were also manufactured in Taiwan by JD Components and were made with the same suspension forks that Trek bicycles are being recalled for. The recalled bicycles consist of bicycles which were sold by Cannondale distributers between February 2009 and April 2009. Norco Performance Bikes has recalled about 3,600 of their bicycles also. The bicycles are being recalled because the frame was made improperly and can crack and separate causing a risk for injury. The defective bicycles were sold around the country between September 2006 and February 2009. So far there has been one reported injury due to the defective bicycle.
