City of New York Modifies 911 System for Snake Hill Road

The City of New York has modified the "911" system to recognize "Snake Hill Road", as it is commonly known on Staten Island. The notoriously dangerous stretch of roadway, which winds up the hill towards LaTourette golf course, is officially known as Richmond Hill Road. Despite the frequency of calls to 911 relating to the all-too-common car accidents that occur on the roadway almost daily, some 911 operators failed to recognize the roadway by its common name, causing a delay in providing emergency help to the accident.
