Epogen and Procrit, drugs used for treating anemia, has been voluntarily recalled because the injected drugs may contain glass flakes. The glass flakes in Epogen and Procrit reportedly formed from the interaction of the formulation with glass vials over the shelf life of the product.
Amgen voluntarily recalled the product after discovering the potential for the glass flakes in Epogen and Procrit which could cause blood clots, swelling of the veins, immune system problems and many other issues.
Although according to Amgen the possibility of the glass flakes forming is "low" the recall is still required because this is an issue that could be life threatening.
If you are suffering from adverse reactions from recalled Epogen or Procrit it is important to see your doctor or the hospital immediately for treatment.
