Bathrobe to Blame for 9 Fire Related Deaths So Far

So far chenille bathrobes are to blame for nine deaths.  The bathrobes are a major fire hazard and if near fire ignite into flames. 

The specific case of one woman who was killed by the chenille bathrobe is Atwilda Brown, a 80 year-old woman at the time.  Atwilda Brown was making tea when her bathrobe caught on fire and caused her severe burns.  She died 2-weeks after the incident happened due to the severe damage caused by the robe catching on fire. 

Atwilda Brown's family is now suing Blair LLC, the company who manufactures the chenille bathrobes, for wrongful death and product liability.  The lawsuit is seeking $30 million for the estate of Atwilda Brown. 

Last week the Consumer Product Safety Commission re-announced the bathrobe recall to warn consumers of the fire hazard caused by the defective product.  According to the CPSC the recall includes the following bathrobes:
