Brookstone Pharmaceuticals LLC in Georgia has issued a voluntary drug recall for Acetaminophen drops. The concentrated Acetaminophen drops being recalled were being sold in 16 oz bulk containers.
The Acetaminophen drops are being recalled as a direct result of a recent meeting the pharmaceutical company recently had with the
FDA in June at which time there was confusion about the dosing amounts.
According to the FDA approximately 100 people die a year due to accidental acetaminophen overdose. The FDA has become very concerned recently about the close monitoring of acetaminophen doses considering that high doses of acetaminophen are the leading cause of liver damage.
Here are a few tips to follow to avoid acetaminophen overdose:
- follow the the daily maximum recommended dosage which is 4,000 milligrams per day for adults
- read the instructions when using over the counter or prescription drugs - some pain killers and over the counter drugs contain acetaminophen. Be sure to read the label on the products to see if and how much the medicine contains.
- avoid alcohol - while taking drugs with acetaminophen you should avoid drinking more than three alcoholic drinks a day. If you want to take an extra precaution you can completely avoid alcohol while taking acetaminophen.
If you have suffered injuries due to improper labeling on acetaminophen or any other type of medicine contact
