Police are reporting that a car accident on Seventh Avenue and West 53rd Street is the cause of nine injured crew members who are working on the new Nicholas Cage movie set for "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", which is to be released late next year. Todays accident comes just days after Monday's accident involving a Farrari driven by a stuntman which skidded out of contro, crashed into a nearby resturaunt and injured two pedestrians, Salma Sheuly and Ishaq Muhammed, who were walking home that night.
Wednesday's accident involved a SUV driver, Laura Conti, who swirved into an unoccupied parked vehicle in an attempt to avoid hitting a cab. When the parked vehicle was struck it went onto the sidewalk and hit nine crewmembers which were standing nearby.
Uninjured crewmembers who saw the accident occur are questioning why the street was opened to the public at 3:15 a.m. when the street was supposed to be blocked off for filming until 5:30 a.m. Police responded by saying the filming was wrapping up shortly before the time of the accident so they decided to open the streets back up to the public.
The injured crewmembers were taken to a nearby hospital and are reportedly suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
