
Unilever, the company responsible for manufacturing the diet drink Slim-Fast, announced that they are recalling
10 Million cans of ready to drink Slim-Fast due to possible contamination with the bacteria
Bacillus cereus which can cause people to get sick.
If you have ingested a recalled ready to drink Slim-Fast and experience diarrhea, nausea and/or vomitting you may have ingested one of the drinks that were affected by this recall. Food poisoning due to the bacteria Bacillus cereus usually has an incubation period of 4 to 16 hours and then has symptoms of diahhrea, nausea and/or vomitting for 12 to 24 hours.
Although, according to the spokeswoman of Unilever, complications and life threatening injuries due to this food contamination are rare there is still a possiblity of complications occuring. Unilever is still not completely sure about specifically which cans may have the bacteria present in them so they are recalling all model numbers. Consumers who have recently purchased the product should stop use of the product immediately and contact Unilever for a full refund of the recalled Slim-Fast drink.
